Face to Face and Online Tutoring
For Online Tutoring, Your first 2 sessions are free!
I am now equipped to deliver all of my tutoring services to
you in your own home via the internet. I use a website called
scriblink.
It is a whiteboard with a voice line. We can each write on
it and see what the other is writing in real time. If you have a
microphone in your computer we can talk over the internet as well.
If not, we use a telephone line. I can do this one-on-one
or even with a small group of students in separate locations.
I am currently offering the first two sessions of tutoring free. The
first session will largly be setting up and testing the technology.
The second will be a chance for us to do actual work together.

Experience
High School Math Teacher
I taught high school math for eight years. I love teaching but am
currently taking time out of the classroom to be a stay-at-home dad for
my 2 and 3 year old. The high school math
classes that I taught included Algebra 1, Algebra 2, Geometry,
Trigonometry and Pre-calculus.
Math Tutor
I have tutored professionally for twelve years. It has always
been something that I have done for fun. Now that I am home with
my kids it has become my primary profession. I have worked
with students from eight years old to seniors in high school.
I have tutored students in every class from elementary school
mathematics through calculus.
SAT Preparation
I have been helping high school students prepare for the SAT since
1988. I have taught SAT prep classes for the Princeton Review as well
as ones that I have organized myself and I have tutored many students
privately.
Elementary School Teacher
I began my teaching career by spending three years teaching the 3rd and
4th grade. I left elementary school to focus on the subject that
I felt was my strongest -- mathematics.

Qualifications
Education:
I received my BA from Harvard College and my Master’s Degree
in Curriculum and Instruction from Loyola University of Chicago.
Certification:
I am certified by the State of Illinois to teach high school
mathematics and self contained K-9 classrooms. I recently moved
to Hanover and am in the process of applying for New Hampshire
certification.
Philosophy
I believe that with enough time and the right kind of instruction, all
students can learn math. In large math classes, teachers are
not always able to tailor their instruction to the individual needs of
every student. As a tutor, I help my students discover their
individual learning styles so that they can more effectively learn from
their teacher. In some cases after a few weeks of intense
work a student is able to more effectively learn from their classroom
teacher and is ready to work on their own again. In other cases,
students find it useful to meet with me on an ongoing basis to
supplement classroom instruction.
The philosophy that guides my test preparation work is that students
learn by working on actual test problems. I spend very little
time lecturing. After a diagnostic test, my students spend most
of their time with me doing carefully selected SAT problems that are
designed to teach them the concepts that they need to learn.
